My 2015 Goals - Not Resolutions!

I'm sure most of you create a list of your new years resolutions every year and I bet this year was no different. I started creating a list last year and it didn't really work out. I fell behind on a lot of them and never picked back up. I've decided this year that I am going to have goals, not resolutions. A resolution is a firm decision to do or not do something. Where as a goal is the object of a person's ambition or effort; an aim or desired result. When you set yourself up with resolutions and you fail it feels awful. It said it was a firm decision to do or not do something which makes it seem like we've committed 110% of ourselves to doing or not doing a specific thing. It's like an instantaneous thing. We stop smoking, we start exercising, we stop eating fast food, etc. When we don't attain that resolution we feel as though we've let ourselves down because we didn't give that 110%. A goal however is something we that we work towards. We put our efforts into it and eventually obtain it. It's not something that happens overnight but something that happens over a long period of time. And even if we something stumble or not give 110% we can always pick up right where we left off because it's something that we aim for in our efforts.

So here are my 2015 New Year's Goals

1. Exercise 2-3 times per week
I know this one is cliche but it's really something I'm going to try hard to actually do. I really need to start getting my health to a better state. I want to get into shape and be able to do more than one pushup.

2. Eat healthier
Again, this one is pretty cliche but I really need to work on this. This one is really going to be a goal because I want to make it a lifestyle, not just something I do for a couple months and than slack off. Actually, all of these goals are going to be a lifestyle for me. Going to school during the day, having homework to do, and working in the evening makes it hard to cook healthy meals. I usually just snack on junk food or pick up fast food on my way home. I want to start preparing healthy foods on Sundays that can be ate throughout the week.

3. Drink at least 3 glasses of water daily
I know that 3 glasses isn't what you're suppose to have but it's a lot more than what I drink now. I could go all day long without drinking anything at all. I know how terrible that is but I just don't ever feel thirsty unless I've been doing a lot of work and get really hot. This goal also relates to my first two goals. Drinking more water will help me stay hydrated during my exercises and will help my stay healthier.

4. Stay off my phone for the first and last 30 minutes of the day
I think this will be the hardest one for me. I'll admit it, I'm addicted to my phone. Whether it be Facebook, Instagram, Email, Pinterest, taking pictures of my cat, or reading the other blogs I follow, I'm always using it! I don't want to start or end my day with that thing controlling me anymore.

5. Become closer with God
The past couple months I've started going to church and I've loved it! I haven't missed a Sunday yet and it makes my whole week so much better when I go. I will be starting with a Growth Group this Sunday and it will continue every Sunday for a couple months. This group will be all about God's purpose for our lives. I'm so excited to meet new people in this group and grow with them in our journey's in faith. I'd like to set aside time everyday to read my bible and pray.

I hope some of these goals will help you create some goals for your new year. I sincerely hope that all the goals you set for yourself will be achieved. If any of you need help coming up with some goals for yourself or you need help achieving any of your goals you can always find me at any of the social media sites listed on my home page.
